I like the idea despite selling hundreds of max gold originals to the merchant many moons ago.

That's the problem, you need the inscription. So, instead of finding only the (near perfect) weapon you need to find a decent weapon AND a (near perfect) inscription.

I still don't see how that is better then getting a perfect weapon from an npc.

No matter how much we ask for it, this isn't likely to happen any time soon as ANet still see it as a selling point for Nightfall.
It's all about the moolah.

The reasons it hasn't happened is because first of all its not that easy, they would have to completely reconfig the programming of drops from all monsters in the game and second of all the weapons are rare for a reason. Inscription was a selling feature of Nightfall and possibly GW:EN. It should not be implemented into past games with set weapon systems already.

Lucifer, I highly doubt they would have to re-program monster loot tables; I suspect that all it would take is a couple of database tweaks here and there and every item and piece of armour could become inscribable and have the ability to receive insignia.
They proved that this is the case when they changed the absorption properties of armour and shields across the board.
Absorption used to absorb damage from ALL types, now it's only good against physical damage.

lol...apparently you've forgotten your "whoopy crazy".

Don't make me link to your posts in the Colossal Scimitar farm thread. lmao.....

Back on point....

I don't want to see the inscriptible weapons drop in Proph, or Factions. Hell, I'd love to see them removed from Nightfall. Back in the previous chapters, getting a good drop meant something. In Nightfall, getting a rare/good gold (or making a crap one perfect) is like running though farmer's Bob's pasture with a blindfold on, and not stepping in cow sh#$.

I think that the armors CERTAINLY need to all go inscribable. While Ritualists and Assassins get to at least choose the armor type that we want to see, we're locked in to the "runes" that we could customize our armor with at a later date. I just feel sorry for Prophecies characters, they're unable to even choose the type of armor they enjoy most.

1. Finding a lowish req, max damage weapon with an inscription slot isn't that hard - hell, you can find blue and purples in Elona with lowish reqs and max damage.

2. You see decent inscriptions being sold everywhere quite cheap (15^50 3-4k, +5en 5k, etc).

3. Skin. Collector weapon skins are all rather boring.

max or near-max inscriptions are a lot more common than any given weapon skin, especially with the Treasure in Elona giving you a dozen free items that periodically respawn...

Not to mention, iirc they already retooled the HOH chest so it dropped inscriptable weapons...

We need an NPC to remove bonuses from current armor and replace them with inscription slots. Easiest solution imo. My monk still has a Kurzick armor set with the old black dye on it (which I like more than the new black dye), and updating it in the future would mean I have to buy a new set of armor which I would rather not do.

Finding a max damage gold weapon isn't harder then finding a max damage purple one and an inscription.

No, I don't see them being sold everywhere. But even if they were, it does not change the fact that you either have to find two things, or find one and buy another, it's more work, especially the buying part, yikes.

That's just an opinion, some have better skins then most rare items. Besides, you're expected to work for the looks of your character.

I wouldn't mind them making the FoW armour inscriptable since I bought the wrong one for my ranger lol.

Bleh... Just take a look at the Elite Missions. What did happen? It was only accessible to guilds holding Cavalon or HZH... and now is accessible to anyone with just a click on a scroll. Sure, this is not related to the inscription system, but if this happens in a distant future... I won't be surprised. Besides... many factors on this game are dying already. I'd say they have to improve it. I prefer to farm Elona over Canthan and Tyrian and I know that many others agree with me.

I don't think it's fair how the games have no connection, really. If we own all 3 chapters, the inscriptions should carry over to the other chapters, just as armor insignias should, and we should also be able to use para, derv, rit, and sin henchmen in tyria and cantha.

Seems like true collectors would be ecstatic. Sure, people could create 'perfect' Tyrian/Canthan items, but since the only way to implement it would be for new drops only and via inscription NPC for old items, the originals would become more rare with time. Got a perfect, uninscriibed <whatever>? Rejoice. It'll never drop again. Ever.

I kinda feel like I would rather they spent their time on developing new stuff, rather than retrofitting the first two campaigns. For example, if it's a choice between inscriptions everywhere and continued evolution of the trade system, I'd choose the latter.

As far as insignias go, I've got 1 set of 15k from Prophecies that I'd like to monkey around with. It would definitely be cool, since there are some great skins in the original that deserve the boost in popularity they would get.
I agree with this statement. I mean what would be more rare than an original uninscriptable for collections? Of course the average everyday player will have the same stats and skins, but to have it be an original drop is what true collectors could showcase. By making the whole set inscription friendly you are just making a "niche" market for true collectors. Which will help balance out the "everyday players" economy.

In a nutshell, Collectors still have their "uberleet" rares. And regular players will have the weapon/armor/style/stat they want for their characters without sacrificing a first born to get it.

I do not give a crap about how rare an item is - I care about what it looks like, and what it does (by the way, crystalines are the ugliest pices of sh*t in the game). I will not use anything that does not use the insignia system anymore, even though I like many of the older skins better than those in Nighfall.

The insignia system needs to be made universal to all three chapters, as does inscriptions.

The easiest way to do this, I believe, would be an npc converter, and change all future drops to this system - that way, these idiotic collectors can still keep there non-inscribable crap, although I see no reason whatsoever of doing so, as they are inferior in every way.

I really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really think Anet should implement this.

Like the OA said, inscribables are already in HA. I think the only legitimate reason NOT to is the Dev time (ctrl-c, ctrl-v). Super rare non-inscribables will continue to be super-rare. Not like demand for them will stay high when GW2 comes out anyway. Give casual Proph or Factions only people an opportunity to get some nice weapons on their own.

It would also be sweet to change the insignias on some of my 15k armors without investing a bunch of cash all over again. Just a thought.

I think that those armor collectors would finally make some sense with the insignia system. Not even those with problems to afford 1.5k armor want to take armor without any bonus.

OK, my 55 HP Monk got a Prophecies Collector armor...
